| Catalog Number | NGF-004 |
| Size | 10μg;100μg;1mg |
| Description | Ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) was named after being initially isolated from the ciliary ganglion of birds, where it maintains parasympathetic ganglion activity. It is not a member of the NTF family, shares no homology with it, and belongs to the category of non-target-specific neurotrophic factors. CNTF receptors are widely distributed in the central nervous system, peripheral nerves, and tissues such as the skin, lungs, intestines, kidneys, liver, spleen, and thymus. Human CNTF is an acidic protein of 20-24 kD, classified as an intracellular protein rather than a secreted protein. Its gene is located at the proximal end of the long arm of chromosome 11; it is a single-copy gene with a coding region of 600 bp. It primarily functions as a neurotrophic factor and is used in the treatment of motor neuron diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The homology between human, rabbit, and rat CNTF is approximately 84%, whereas its homology with NGF is very low. |
| Application | This product can be used for research on maintaining neuronal integrity and promoting motor neuron survival in engineered grafts using His-tagged human CNTF. |

| Endotoxin Level | < 1 EU/µg |
| Redissolution | Dissolve with sterile water for injection or triple-distilled water. |
| Storage | Store at -20°C. |
| Shelf Life | 1 year |
| Note | Add an appropriate amount of sterile distilled water to dissolve completely, and dilute to a concentration of 0.1-1 mg/mL. Allow the solution to stand at room temperature for 15-20 minutes to ensure complete dissolution. The resuspended protein solution can be stored at 2-8°C for approximately 1 week, or aliquoted and stored at 20°C to -80°C for 3-6 months. For long-term storage, to enhance protein stability, it is recommended to dissolve the protein in 0.1% BSA at a concentration of no less than 10 μg/mL and store at -20°C to -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Please refer to the literature to determine the optimal working concentration, or determine and optimize the working concentration yourself based on the experimental purpose, specific cells, or animals. For research use only. Not for use in diagnostics, as a drug, or in humans. |
