| Description | DOPC+Cholesterol LNP is a lipid nanoparticle system constructed from DOPC and cholesterol as main components. DOPC is a phospholipid whose molecular structure contains a hydrophilic phosphocholine head and two hydrophobic fatty acid tails (oleoyl groups). This amphipathic structure allows it to spontaneously form a double-layer membrane structure in aqueous solution, which is the basic framework for constructing lipid nanoparticles. Cholesterol is embedded in the phospholipid bilayer and can regulate the fluidity, stability and permeability of the lipid membrane. The rigid steroid ring structure of cholesterol can fill the gaps between phospholipid molecules, enhance the tightness of the lipid membrane, reduce the fluidity of lipid molecules, thereby improving the stability of LNP; at the same time, it can maintain the flexibility of the membrane to a certain extent and prevent the membrane from being excessively stiff. The LNP formed by the combination of the two has nanoscale dimensions (usually tens to hundreds of nanometers) and can wrap various substances, such as nucleic acids (mRNA, siRNA, etc.), drug molecules, etc., to achieve delivery and delivery of substances. |
