Description COC is a novel amorphous, transparent copolymer material with a cyclic olefin structure. It possesses excellent properties such as low birefringence-which is crucial for optical components-as well as low water absorption and high rigidity. It offers optical performance comparable to PMMA, heat resistance superior to PC, and even better dimensional stability than both PMMA and PC.
Applications Suitable for thermoplastic molding of microfluidic chips and medical device applications.
Features Low density, approximately 10% lower than PMMA and PC, facilitating lightweight product design; Low water absorption; COC has a water absorption rate far lower than PMMA, preventing any degradation in physical properties due to water absorption. Containing monomers with low polarity and anisotropy, it is an amorphous transparent material with low birefringence; It is a high-heat-resistant transparent resin with a glass transition temperature of 140-170°C; the glass transition temperature is an indicator of heat resistance for amorphous polymers; It is easy to injection mold; Excellent mechanical properties, with tensile strength and elastic modulus higher than those of PC; excellent reproducibility, resulting in high-quality products; low dielectric constant, particularly with good high-frequency performance, making it a material with superior dielectric properties among thermoplastics; good scratch resistance, good adhesion to inorganic and organic materials, and easy to seal; excellent chemical resistance, acid resistance, and alkali resistance; virtually impermeable to water vapor, meeting the requirements of applications that require moisture protection.
