| Product Name | Standard 2-Phase Microdroplet Generation Microfluidic Chip (Flow-focused Type) |
| Catalog Number | MC-SPC-002 |
| Physical Specs | PDMS chip: 62*19*2 mm; B270 glass: 75*25*2 mm |
| Description | Microdroplet microfluidics is a technology that utilizes the interfacial tension and flow shear forces between two immiscible fluids to segment a continuous liquid stream into tiny, dispersed droplets. In conventional microdroplet generation units, the "flow focusing" structure is more stable during the microdroplet generation process compared to "T"-shaped chip structures, offering a wider range of controllable droplet sizes and facilitating the generation of droplets with diameters far smaller than the chip channel dimensions. The standard two-phase flow-focusing microdroplet chip is produced by covalently bonding a perforated glass substrate with a PDMS chip featuring micron-scale channels. The surface of the chip’s channels is modified with a special hydrophobic coating to ensure stable microdroplet generation. |
| Applications | Used for the preparation of oil-in-water microdroplets following the mixing of two aqueous phases, suitable for producing oil-in-water microdroplets/microspheres with diameters ranging from 25 to 140 μm, including Janus microspheres; single-cell encapsulated microdroplets/microspheres; and microdroplets/microspheres prepared using two-aqueous-phase reagents, such as sodium alginate microspheres. |
| Features | Enables rapid connection and switching between tubing and chips (when used with PDMS microdroplet generation chip fixtures); easy to observe under a microscope; stable microdroplet generation; non-toxic and biocompatible; high light transmittance and strong gas permeability (oxygen, carbon dioxide, etc.); low cost. |
