Description Transforming growth factor-α (TGF-α) belongs to the epidermal growth factor (EGF) cytokine family. Soluble TGF-α is released from the cell membrane through proteolytic cleavage. Membrane-bound proTGF-α is bioactive and functions in cell-cell adhesion or in stimulating neighboring cells. TGF-α is widely expressed in transforming cells. Furthermore, TGF-α is expressed in normal tissues during embryogenesis as well as in adult cells and tissues, including the pituitary gland, keratinocytes, and macrophages.
Application This product can be used for research on stimulating epithelial cell proliferation in tissue engineering with human TGF-α.
