Description KGF is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. Members of the FGF family possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities and are involved in various biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth, and invasion. FGF7 is a potent epithelial cell-specific growth factor whose mitogenic activity is primarily expressed in keratinocytes but not in fibroblasts or endothelial cells. Studies of mouse and rat homologs of this gene indicate that it plays a role in epidermal morphogenesis, wound re-epithelialization, hair development, and early lung organogenesis.
Application This product can be used for research on stimulating keratinocyte proliferation in skin tissue engineering with human KGF.

Activity Biological activity was determined by dose-dependent thymidine incorporation in BaF3 cells expressing KGF receptors; the results showed an ED₅₀ < 10 ng/mL, corresponding to an activity of 1.0 × 10⁵ IU/mg.
Redissolution It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized keratinocyte growth factor with sterile 18 MΩ-cm H₂O to a concentration of no less than 100 µg/mL, after which it may be further diluted into other aqueous solutions.
Formulation Freeze-dry a solution of 20 mM phosphate buffer, pH 8.0, and 1 M NaCl after 0.2 µm filtration.
