| Description | Mature human epidermal growth factor (hEGF) is a single-chain, low-molecular-weight peptide composed of 53 amino acids, It contains six cysteine residues that form three pairs of disulfide bonds within the chain. It is relatively stable against acids, alkalis, and heat, and can withstand degradation by enzymes such as trypsin, chymotrypsin, and pepsin, making it one of the most stable protein peptides known. hEGF exerts various biological functions by binding to the cell surface-specific EGF receptor (EGFR). Clinically, it is used to treat surgical wounds, skin ulcers, gastrointestinal ulcers, corneal injuries, and tissue repair. hEGF spontaneously binds to EGFR on the cell membranes near wounds, thereby activating protein kinases, accelerating the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and proteins, and promoting and regulating the growth and proliferation of epidermal cells, leading to rapid wound healing and the repair of skin tissue. Therefore, the addition of hEGF to cosmetics offers benefits such as reducing scars, treating acne, and eliminating acne and blackheads. hEGF also has a protective effect on healthy skin, primarily manifested in delaying aging and enhancing skin elasticity and radiance. This recombinant human epidermal growth factor (yeast) (rhEGF(Yeast)) is produced via extracellular secretion; its amino acid sequence and molecular structure are identical to those of natural hEGF, and it possesses full biological activity. |
