Description Microdroplet microfluidics is a technology that utilizes the interfacial tension and shear forces between two immiscible fluids to break a continuous liquid stream into tiny, dispersed droplets. In conventional microdroplet generation units, the "flow focusing" structure offers greater stability during the droplet generation process compared to "T"-shaped chip structures, provides a wider range of controllable droplet sizes, and facilitates the generation of droplets with diameters far smaller than the chip channel dimensions. The droplet generation chip is produced by covalently bonding a perforated glass substrate with a PDMS chip featuring micron-scale channels. The surface of the chip’s channels is modified with a special hydrophobic coating to ensure stable droplet generation.
Applications Used for the preparation of oil-in-water microdroplets/microspheres with diameters ranging from 25 to 300 μm. This includes the preparation of sodium alginate hydrogel microspheres for 3D cell culture or for encapsulating protein and peptide drugs; the preparation of chitosan hydrogel microspheres; the preparation of polyacrylamide hydrogel beads for single-cell sequencing; preparation of hyaluronic acid hydrogel microspheres for cartilage repair.
