Description Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural polysaccharide composed of N-acetyl-D-glucosamine and D-glucuronic acid linked by β-1,4-glycosidic bonds, exhibiting biodegradability, biocompatibility, and non-immunogenicity. Oxidized hyaluronic acid is derived from hyaluronic acid through oxidative modification, yielding a form with active aldehyde functional groups. This enables nucleophilic addition reactions (Schiff base reactions) with amino-containing compounds, while the resulting product retains the excellent biocompatibility and biological activity of hyaluronic acid.
Application For the preparation of injectable in situ hydrogels, drug delivery carriers, tissue engineering scaffolds, 3D bioprinting bioinks, postoperative anti-adhesion materials, wound dressings, and surgical sealants in biomedical applications.
