Description Naringenin liposome is a new nano-drug delivery system with lipid bilayer as the basic structure and containing naringenin. Naringenin is a natural flavonoid compound with various biological activities such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. However, it has problems such as poor water solubility, low oral bioavailability, and weak in vivo stability. Liposomes are composed of phospholipids and cholesterol. The hydrophilic head and hydrophobic tail spontaneously assemble into a closed spherical structure. Hydrophilic naringenin can be encapsulated in the aqueous phase inside the liposome, and hydrophobic naringenin can be encapsulated in the lipid bilayer. This structure not only improves the water solubility of naringenin, but also promotes the uptake of naringenin by cells and improves its bioavailability through similar compatibility characteristics with cell membranes. At the same time, liposomes can reduce the premature degradation of naringenin in the body, achieve slow release, and extend the drug's action time.
