Description This droplet generation chip is a standard PDMS microfluidic chip developed for multiphase emulsion systems, specifically designed to enable the controlled preparation of W/W/O (water-in-oil-in-water) core-shell microspheres or two-phase aqueous microspheres. The chip employs a classic flow-focusing structure. Through a unique "trident" channel design, the inner aqueous phase and intermediate aqueous phase form the ‘core’ and "shell" of the microdroplets, respectively, which are then sheared by the outer oil phase to generate microspheres with controllable structures. This product utilizes a covalent bonding process between PDMS and perforated glass substrates, combined with micrometer-scale channel surface hydrophobic modification technology, significantly enhancing emulsion interface stability.
Applications Used for the preparation of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) monodisperse microspheres, polyethylene glycol-dextran core-shell microspheres (PEG-Dextran), and methylacrylate-modified hyaluronic acid-alginate (HAMA-Alg) core-shell microspheres. The microspheres produced demonstrate significant application potential in biomedical fields such as controlled-release drug delivery systems, 3D cell culture scaffolds, and tissue engineering scaffold construction.
