| Description | Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is produced via the polymerization of methyl methacrylate monomers. Compared with polystyrene, PMMA possesses relatively weaker hydrophobicity and shows lower non‑specific adsorption toward proteins and peptides. Meanwhile, its low density allows microsphere particles to maintain good suspension stability in liquid systems. PMMA beads feature excellent impact resistance, thermal stability, as well as superior tensile and flexural mechanical properties. Monodisperse fluorescent PMMA microspheres can be synthesized by immobilizing fluorescent dye molecules onto the surface of PMMA substrates. |
