| Description | Clodronate-loaded LNP is a research tool for functionally specific depletion of macrophages, using clodronate (dichloromethylene diphosphonic acid)as the active ingredient and encapsulating it in traditional non-PEGylated lipid nanoparticles. Clodronate itself is a hydrophilic bisphosphonate that has difficulty penetrating cell membranes in its free state; However, after being encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles, it can be specifically taken up through macrophage endocytosis, and clodronate is subsequently released into the cell under the action of lysosomes. High concentrations of clodronate accumulate intracellularly, interfere with cellular metabolism and induce macrophage-selective apoptosis, thereby achieving temporary depletion of macrophages locally or systemically. |
