Description The chip is fabricated using biocompatible materials via microfabrication technology. It comprises two independent cell culture chambers-upper and lower-connected by a semi-transparent porous membrane that facilitates communication and interaction between the cells in both layers. This design enables the co-culture of two or more cell types while supporting microfluidic perfusion. This system mimics human blood flow, continuously supplying nutrients to the tissue cells and removing metabolic byproducts.
Applications Used to simulate the 3D physiological and pathological microenvironments at various tissue-tissue interfaces in the human body. This primarily includes the blood-brain barrier, the lung-blood barrier, the placental barrier, the glomerular filtration barrier, the intestinal-vascular barrier, and the tumor-vascular barrier. It is also used to simulate physiological and pathological processes such as cell invasion within the matrix and the vascularization of three-dimensional tissues and organs.
