| Catalog Number | ECM-020 |
| Description | The dermal-epidermal junction (DEJ) is a type of extracellular matrix found in all human organs and tissues, performing critical functions. Located at the boundary between the epidermis and dermis, it is a wavy, mesh-like membrane structure approximately 0.5-1 μm in length, serving as the connecting and transitional structure between the two layers. Its main components include type IV and type VI collagen, laminin, reticulin/nestin, and integrins. The network structure formed by their cross-linking endows the basement membrane with a rich variety of biological functions, primarily including epidermal-dermal adhesion, signal transduction, and the formation of a permeability barrier. |
| Application | Used in anti-aging, skincare product development, skin health management, and skin barrier repair. |
| Feature | Connection and Support: The basement membrane firmly anchors the dermis to the epidermis. Transport Function: Nutrients and cellular byproducts must pass through the basement membrane to move between the epidermis and the dermis. Barrier Function: The basement membrane acts as a second barrier within the skin, helping to block external irritants. |
