| Description | Flow cytometry technology is based on fluorescently labeled microspheres, with different probe molecules immobilized on different microspheres; these microspheres can be distinguished by their fluorescence intensity or size. By mixing different types of coded microspheres and adding a small amount of the sample to be tested, the target molecules in the suspension bind specifically to the probes conjugated to the microsphere surfaces. Adding an appropriate reporter molecule then constitutes a liquid-phase chip system, which can be used to simultaneously detect multiple different molecules in the same sample. Binding reactions involving antigens, antibodies, enzymes, substrates, ligands, and receptors, as well as nucleic acid hybridization reactions, are performed on differently fluorescently labeled microspheres. Blue and red lasers are used to detect the labeled microspheres and the reporter fluorescence, respectively, to achieve qualitative and quantitative analysis. |
