Introduction Hyaluronic acid (HA), commonly known as hyaluronic acid, is a natural glycosaminoglycan polymer composed of D-glucuronic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine as disaccharide structural units. It is a component of the extracellular matrix of animal tissues, has good water-locking and moisturizing properties, and is present in high concentrations in brain tissue, synovial fluid, and vitreous body. HA plays an important role in many biological processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, morphogenesis, inflammation, and wound healing.

Hyaluronic acid methacryloyl (HAMA) is a material that introduces methacryloyl groups into the hyaluronic acid molecular chain to give it photocuring ability. Due to its portable forming method and good biocompatibility, HAMA-based material systems have been applied to many biomedical research fields, including: chondrocyte culture and cartilage regeneration and repair, tumor model construction, high-strength and adhesive hydrogel construction, drug controlled release, microneedle preparation, wound dressings, biosensors, and postoperative anti-adhesion. In addition, the large number of carboxyl and hydroxyl groups on the HA molecule also provide abundant chemical sites for chemical modification, making it an excellent platform material, such as the introduction of adhesion groups, the grafting of drugs/active factors, etc.

The HAMA product launched by our team has stable physical and chemical properties through strict raw material screening and quality testing. It solidifies into gel within 10 seconds under visible light irradiation, has good biocompatibility, strong material scalability, and can provide a variety of viscoelastic properties to adapt to different application fields. HAMA can be used with GelMA hydrogel to better simulate the microenvironment of in vivo tissues such as cartilage and brain, and obtain better cell 3D culture and bio-ink formula.
