Fracture analysis includes macro analysis and micro analysis. Macro analysis only needs the help of a magnifying glass and a low magnification microscope to observe and analyze the fracture at a low magnification, to obtain the overall profile characteristics of the fracture surface, and to a certain extent understand the cause of damage; On the basis of it, the influence of the fracture path, nature, environmental medium and temperature on the fracture is further found through electron microscopes and other instruments, and the details of the cause and mechanism of the fracture are further determined.

Our test items are as follows:
1. Macro-fracture analysis: Through macro-fracture analysis, the nature of the fracture and the entire process of the fracture accident can be judged, and goals and tasks are proposed for further micro-fracture analysis. Macro fracture analysis is the premise and foundation of micro fracture analysis.

2. Microscopic fracture analysis: The microscopic analysis of fracture is realized by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope. Due to the limitation of the depth of field, the optical microscope can only roughly observe the flattened fractures such as cleavage fractures and fatigue fractures, but cannot observe the transcrystalline fractures and intergranular fractures with obvious plastic deformation. Even for flat fractures, it is difficult to carry out large areas Continuous observation and low resolution. However, the optical microscope can analyze polarized light on some tissue structures on the fracture, and can also observe the color changes in different areas of the fracture, which has an important role in the diagnosis of fracture properties. The scanning electron microscope has a large depth of field, which can study the rough fracture surface and obtain a clear image. The magnification can be continuously changed from 10 times to 100,000 times to facilitate the observation of the fracture details.

Through fracture morphological analysis to study some basic problems of fracture: such as the cause of fracture, fracture properties, fracture mode, fracture mechanism, fracture toughness, stress state during fracture and crack growth rate.

If the metallurgical and environmental factors of the material are required to be studied in depth to influence the fracture process, micro-component analysis, main body analysis, crystallographic analysis and stress and strain analysis of the fracture surface are usually carried out. With the development of fracture science, fracture analysis is more closely related to the problems studied by fracture mechanics, interpenetrating and cooperating with each other; the experimental technology of fracture analysis and the depth of analysis problems will have new developments. Fracture analysis has now become an important means of failure analysis of metal components.
