Introduction | Chondroitin sulfate (ChS) is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan, whose molecular chain consists of alternating 1,4-linked N-acetyl-β-D-galactosamine (β-D-GalNAc) and 1,3-linked β-D-glucuronic acid (β-D-GlcA) disaccharide units. As an important part of the widely distributed glycosaminoglycans and cartilage and extracellular matrix in the human body, ChS is present in large quantities in tissues such as skin, cartilage, tendons, heart valves and central nervous system, and plays an important physiological role in the body, such as participating in the formation of bone and cartilage, regulating growth factors (fibroblast growth factor and transforming growth factor-β, etc.), promoting wound healing, anti-inflammatory, anti-coagulation, anti-oxidation and anti-tumor, etc. Methacrylylated chondroitin sulfate (ChSMA) is a double-bond modified chondroitin sulfate, which can be cross-linked and cured into gel under the action of photoinitiators by ultraviolet and visible light. Due to its portable cross-linking molding method and good biocompatibility, ChSMA-based material systems have been widely used in many biomedical research fields, including osteoarthritis treatment, articular cartilage repair, skull repair, etc. ChS molecules are rich in carboxyl and hydroxyl groups that are easy to modify, and can be used to construct a variety of biomaterials, such as nano-drug carriers and bioadhesives for tumor diagnosis and treatment. The ChSMA products launched by our team have passed strict raw material screening and quality testing, and have stable physical and chemical properties. They solidify into gel within 10 seconds under visible light irradiation, have good biocompatibility, strong material scalability, and can provide a variety of viscoelastic properties to adapt to different application fields. ChSMA can be used with our GelMA, HAMA and other hydrogels to better simulate the microenvironment of in vivo tissues such as bone cartilage and skin, and obtain better cell 3D culture and bio-ink formulas. |
