Application Cell encapsulation,cartilage engineering,drug delivery
Introduction Sodium alginate (Alg), also known as sodium alginate or alginate, is a linear polyuronic acid polymer composed of β-D-mannuronic acid and α-L-guluronic acid. It has good biocompatibility and has been widely used in a variety of medical applications such as cell encapsulation and drug sustained release.

Methacrylylated sodium alginate (AlgMA) is a process of introducing methacrylic groups into the molecular chain of sodium alginate to give it photocuring ability. Compared with traditional divalent ion (calcium ion, etc.) cross-linking, photocuring cross-linking is highly portable and has good internal uniformity of the gel. AlgMA-based material systems have been widely used in many biomedical research fields, including: tumor model construction, cell loading, wound dressings, drug controlled release, dental impressions, etc. In addition, both -OH and -COOH in the structural unit of sodium alginate can be used as chemical active sites. By introducing more active groups through chemical modification, it has a three-dimensional (3D) structure suitable for cell growth and differentiation, thus giving it new properties (cell adhesion, active drug loading, etc.), expanding its tissue engineering application.

The AlgMA product launched by our team has passed strict raw material screening and quality testing, and has stable physical and chemical properties. It solidifies into gel within 20 seconds under visible light irradiation, has good biocompatibility, and has strong material scalability. It can provide a variety of viscoelastic properties to adapt to different application fields. AlgMA can be used with GelMA and HAMA hydrogels to better simulate the microenvironment of in vivo tissues such as skin and cartilage, and obtain better cell 3D culture and bio-ink solutions.
